Every once in a while, toilets need to be replaced. If you own a toilet and it is giving you trouble then this is one of the most obvious giveaway signs that tell you that it needs to be replaced. Replacing your toilet doesn’t necessarily need a professional intervention or hiring a reliable plumber in Singapore. In fact, with the right equipment and basic knowledge, you can do it on your own without spending your cash for plumbing service.

Hiring a plumber in Singapore charges a lot when it comes to toilet replacement service but it still depends on the condition of the work and toilet itself.

If you haven’t watched for the signs, a worn-out toilet that needs to be replaced usually shows signs like frequent repair needs and frequent clogs. If you have a decade-old toilet, replacing it can help you save more money and water as newer ones use fewer gallons. In this little way, you can help conserve water and help the environment.

1. Drain the water and remove the tank lid

The first thing that you need to do before you can replace your toilet is to drain the water by turning off your water supply valve. After turning off the valve, proceed flushing the toilet to clear out the remaining water in the tank and remove its lid. When you’re draining the tank make sure that you mop the remaining water with a sponge.

2. Remove the toilet

The next step is about removing the mounted toilet by removing the mounting bolts. Popping the caps that are located at the base of the toilet bowl and the nuts can help remove and disconnect the toilet. You might also want to remove the tank safely from the bowl before you can lift the toilet as the tank can easily be cracked. Check the closet flange. Replace if it’s needed.

3. Test-fit the toilet

After removing, try to see if the toilet fits well. During this step, you might want to check the flange and see if the bolts are aligned and intact with the holes. Properly place and level your new toilet.

4. Apply wax seal

Install the new bolts in the flange and apply a wax seal in the flange's bolts and set the toilet as the final step. Tighten the bolts to make sure that tank won’t sway.
